10,000 people go missing every year in the UK alone. This is happening to the fabric of society in which I call home. As a designer, my work has stage and the opportunity and perhaps obligation to raise awareness through my work.
I use second hand clothes which have left their owners lives for many different reasons which I believe give them a sense of identity and ownership. My designs are based around real life interviews with family members of the missing and community workers which I have conducted.
I directly work with the garments through print, devoured, and subtle textures. I use laser cut techniques to create an echo of the once present owner. I believe this separation of owner and identity creates an unique atmosphere.
